The future of engineering is in the hands of the youth. Foley Freeze makes it a priority to inspire young people to get involved in STEM and help to educate them on  FIRST programs. One way the team does this is by visiting local catholic schools and demonstrating our robot to young minds that are eager to learn.

Last Friday, we visited Holy Name, a grade school in Birmingham, to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.  Catholic Schools Week celebrates Catholic Schools and the students that go to them, so we decided to use the opportunity to introduce the possibilities of STEM to the students.

We presented our 2019 robot and demonstrated how it drives and operates. The students also had an opportunity to go hands-on and operate the robot. This is crucial to building an interest and love for FIRST.

“It was important to go to Holy Name because it not only advocated for student population growth but it also advocates for robotics and STEM growth,” said Aidan Darmetko, who helped present to the students.
