Outreach

Our Mission:

To engage and inspire students in the areas of STEAM and business through mentoring, experiential learning and community involvement, while gaining real-world insight of work processes, developing a healthy competitive spirit and encouraging opportunities for students to learn, grow, challenge and compete.

FLL Tournament

We hosted and ran our first FLL (FIRST Lego League) tournament in team history this year at Bishop Foley, and  eighteen teams participated in this season’s City Shaper game. Because of the success of the event, we will host another FLL tournament in the Fall of 2020 and are planning to host an FTC tournament.

the future of first

We have worked to bring FLL and FTC to elementary and middle schools. We traveled to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Holy Family, and Holy Name in the Detroit Metro area and presented to over 450 students and staff members. We demonstrated our robot and in some events assisted younger students with building a robot while also providing an opportunity for them to complete STEAM-based challenges. They had the opportunity to drive and operate our robots as well. We explained the progression of FIRST programs and helped students become more interested in STEAM-related activities.

Help in the community

Our students consistently volunteer at organizations and companies to help people in need and support our community, including churches, non-profit organizations, summer camps, and more. This year, we partnered with our school’s Student Council to host a food drive, collecting 770 pounds of food. All of the collected food was donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank where it will be distributed to people and families in need in the Metro Detroit Area.
